Episode 6 | America’s Forests in California
In this episode of America’s Forests with Chuck Leavell, we travel to California. Chuck meets residents who have survived the tragedy of wildfires and finds out the different ways to prevent future disasters. He gets to plant redwoods that one day might grow to be the tallest trees on the planet. Chuck learns about the trick of turning wood chips into electricity at a biomass plant. And he wraps it all up with a jam session and a behind-the-scenes tour at the Fender Instrument factory.
America’s Forests captures the breadth of our nation’s woodlands – both public and private. We feature different stories that demonstrate how #forest habitats are to the well-being and economic health of communities across the country. In this series, we present individuals who embody this passion for the woods, from architects to artists, from climbers to carpenters, and from #foresters to #treefarmers.
We celebrate US forests and to advocate for their constructive management, we propose a communications campaign centered on a broadcast television documentary series for PBS and multi-faceted social media outreach.
